The Vascular Access Course is designed for anyone involved in vascular access. This course will teach you how to use  ultrasound to improve your success rates and improve patient care when placing lines, both central and peripheral. We cover the basics of ultrasound and line placement with ultrasound and then spend a great deal of time in lab placing lines in multiple different types of phantoms. Models are also used to practice identifying the anatomy and landmarks.

Upon Completion of the Vascular Access Course participants will be able to:

1. Demonstrate the ability to properly operate an ultrasound machine and make adjustments to obtain adequate image quality.

2. Acquire ultrasound images for limited examination of the vascular structures in the neck and limbs for the purpose of placing intravascular catheters.

3. Use ultrasound to facilitate the intravascular placement of catheters.

The course will be located at the Fairmont Orchid Hotel which is a Four Diamond, 32-acre luxury oceanfront resort along the beautiful Kohala Coast with a sugar-white sandy lagoon and aquamarine waters, a year-round children's program, spa, golf, tennis, six restaurants, and the recently renovated, exclusive Fairmont Gold.
